Deloss Webber
May 6th through May 29th, 2010
Please join us for the opening of this exhibition on
Thursday, May 6th at 6pm.
Pacini Lubel Gallery will exhibit the sculpture of Northwest artist Deloss Webber from May 6th through May 29th in the East Gallery. Deloss Webber's art is influenced by eastern philosophies - wood furniture by Nakashima, the sculptural fluidity of Noguchi and the simple yet complex ceramic sculpture by Kaneko are referenced in these sculpture's. The energy is transcendent of the physical structure - stone, fiber, and wood rise above the earthly elements that comprise their visual presence.
Del's reverence for nature takes shape as varying types of stones are wrapped in fiber - rattan, bamboo, cane or reed. The melding of contemporary weaving techniques in concomitance with classic Japanese knotting styles gives Del's sculpture a unique appearance. Scale, texture, color and form develop as the process unfolds.
