other 2010 exhibits
April 1st through May 1st, 2010
Please join us for the opening of this exhibition on
Thursday, April 1st at 6pm.
Pacini Lubel Gallery will exhibit the paintings of Northwest artist Kathe Fraga and the sculpture of husband and wife team John and Robin Gumaelius from April 1st thought April 27th. The exhibition will celebrate the coming of Spring with highly colorful work that harkens to the burgeoning development of color as nature emerges from dormancy.
Kathe Fraga celebrates nature in her characteristic style of colorful palates - birds, trees, and flowers are abundant. A hint of European, Asian, and Northwest styles are apparent in Fraga's paintings. Color combinations that hint to turn of the century master colorists like Pierre Bonnard in concomitance with the spirit of Asian minimalism are the essential spirit of this body of work.
John and Robin Gumaelius explore their artistic fantasies - they create sculpture from found objects, steel and ceramic. The colorful ceramic bodies of the sculpture present narrative stories. The ceramic elements are painted and glazed and then fired then dressed up with found wood and hand forged steel components. Stories - although whimsical in appearance might relate to serious issues like war but are most often a celebration of the child living within all of us.
